    Diabetes Awareness

    We offer a variety of Diabetes education classes. Visit our Classes Search for more information. You can also learn about Diabetes through our section called Health Information. Health information takes you to Healthwise, a database of Health News, Topics, and a drug guide provided by Sutter Health.

    Be sure to check with your insurance company when receiving services related to Diabetes. There are laws that require insurance companies to cover certain diabetes supplies, education, eye exams, foot exams and lab tests.

    Pumpkin Pie
    Serves 12
    Preheat oven to 375 degrees

    Uses Pillsbury refrigerated pie crust.

    2 generous cup pumpkin
    2 eggs (4 egg whites or 1/2 cup egg beaters if you are watching your cholesterol)
    2 T. honey
    1 T. OJ concentrate
    1 cup evaporated skim milk
    2 tsp cinnamon
    1/2 tsp freshly ground nutmeg
    Pinch of ground cloves and allspice
    1 pie crust

    1. With electric mixer beat all ingredients together until smooth, creamy, and fluffy.
    2. Unfold and roll out dough and place in 9" pie pan. Pour pumpkin mixture into shell and crimp edges to make it look homemade.
    3. Bake for about 45 minutes until set. Wait until cool to eat.
