VNA Philanthropy

Philanthropy

Philanthropy is a vital funding source for not-for-profit healthcare organizations. To meet the changing healthcare needs of Santa Cruz County, new programs and new technology are needed. Sutter Santa Cruz welcomes donations from individuals, organizations and the business community. It is through the generosity of people in the community we serve, that we are able to expand and develop new programs and purchase equipment to enhance patient care.

Sutter Santa Cruz has established five special funds to ensure that philanthropic support is directed toward programs and services that are of particular importance to the community and our organization. We invite you to consider which fund might best align with your individual interests. Or, you may make an unrestricted gift to be applied where the need is greatest.

Our Unrestricted Funds include:
Santa Cruz Medical Foundation
These unrestricted gifts will be used where the need is greatest to uphold quality of care at our satellite facilities and urgent care centers.

Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center
Unrestricted gifts in this area will help to support inpatient and outpatient services provided at this acute care hospital.

VNA
Contributions to this fund will help ensure ongoing access to home-based health care for those in our community who need it most. The fund supports all the programs and services of the Visiting Nurse Association—including annual flu clinics and childhood immunization programs.

Our Restricted Funds include:
Medical Technology & Equipment Fund
Your gift to this fund will enable us to acquire the medical technology and equipment needed to provide the highest quality care to all our patients.

Access to Care Program
This special fund enables us to respond directly to changing needs in our community. Programs range from maternity services for indigent and incarcerated women, to insurance for low-income children, to free health screenings and senior services.

Chic Allegrini Medical Fund
This fund provides the financial foundation for our physician recruitment and retention education opportunities. The fund was established in November 2003 to honor the memory of Anthony “Chic” Allegrini, M.D., one of six founding physicians and visionary of the Santa Cruz Medical Clinic in 1953.

Health Education Fund
This fund supports the myriad health education services we provide to our community. These include events, presentations classes and support groups. We currently need particular support to expand our programs on childbirth and parenting, and to teach patients more about diabetes prevention and management.

Lactation Center Fund
Donations may be made to the Lactation Center at the Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center to enable us to encourage healthier families with lactation counseling services, parenting education, and support groups for new parents.
